The role played by the expansion of education and the enhancement of skill, in the progress of underprivileged communities, is so well established that no further arguments need to be placed in favour of it.

With a greater realisation of the same, the Government of West Bengal has put in commendable effort to build schools, colleges, hostel buildings and skill development centres throughout the length and breadth of the state, a large number of which are located in areas, largely domiciled by people belonging to the minority communities.

The popularity and success of schemes like the Mid Day Meal Programme, Sabuj Sathi, distribution of free text books and free dresses, various Scholarship programmes, Kanyashree Prakalpa etc have greatly encouraged education and have brought a positive shift in the path of development of the underprivileged section of the society.

The scholarship programme especially has brought a revolutionary change amongst the students of minority cocommunities, who are now eager to pursue technical and higher studies for a brighter future.
